The unemployment is slowly declining, but continuously daunts in France. Nevertheless, few sectors keep recruiting massively. Focus on the job opportunities in the agricultural sector
For several years the agricultural sectors have struggled to fulfil all their job offers, even with a national unemployment rate bordering the 10 %. Yet, the agriculture industry offers varied and high-level jobs, especially with the recent use of innovative technologies in the industry. Furthermore, certain jobs such as the sale and maintenance of machinery, tractor driving, wine selling, cattle raising, and consulting have assured outlets. France Strategy predicts 175 000 jobs offers in the agriculture industry by 2022. Including 18.000 executive positions as the number of unqualified jobs tends to decline with the rise of agricultural technologies. Many recruiting campaigns have been put in place; the latest to date focused exclusively on enlisting female candidates and was created by the FNEDT (National Federation of Territorial Entrepreneurs).
Hiring within the agricultural machinery sector
The agricultural machinery industry represents 100 000 jobs in France, divided in 15 different job categories. It is a sector abundant with opportunities from all levels and with attractive career paths. However, every year, about 5 000 job offers remain vacant. With more than 230 schools proposing superior and/or secondary programs in the agricultural machinery field, the actors of the sector hope that apprenticeship will help young graduates seize the opportunity.
A recent partnership between Aprodema (organization which promotes jobs and training in the industry) and the APECITA (organization which helps recruiters and job-seekers in the farming and food-processing industry) aims at solving this problem by making the sector attractive to young people, while developing new recruiting techniques. During Paris International Agricultural Show, Aprodema was present for the first time in the Agri' Recrute pole which held conferences and jobs testimonies in order to bring to light to these positions, particularly with the general public.
