The symbol of agriculture is the technical development itself, and not only one machine. We are still far from it, if I think now about robotics, vertical farming, slurry selection, etc.

How long have you been visiting SIMA?

To be honest, I personally only visited SIMA once in the 1990s.

Which machine or product presented over the last 100 years do you think is a symbol of agriculture?

I cannot limit myself to one machine or product as a symbol of modern agriculture. It is worth mentioning all the achievements over the last 100 years that have made laborious manual work in the fields easier and thus increased yields. Powerful tractors have replaced the laborious work of the horse and plow and are now equipped with satellite technology. Working without a tractor is unthinkable.

Fertilization and crop protection have meant higher yields and modern (and usually autonomous) sprayers guarantee precise operation. These advances result in higher yields and ensure that more people are fed than in the past.

Combines and modern harvesting techniques: This whole range of efficient techniques also makes it possible to achieve a large harvest in a short time.

But additional components such as air conditioning, tires, satellite control, steering systems… are also important elements of agricultural technology.

All achievements that help mankind to feed the growing world population and that are an aid for the agricultural manager are symbols of agriculture.

You can see for yourself: for me, the symbol of agriculture is the technical development itself, and not only 1 machine. We are still far from it, if I think now about robotics, vertical farming, slurry selection, etc.
