Conference: "Farmers at the heart of the energy transition: Keys to the success of a project"
- Sunday 24 February 2019
Sunday 24 February 2019 - 13:30 - 17:00
Duration of the event : 03h30
Hall 3 - mezzanine
Organised in association with SER, ADEME and APCA, this conference will take the form of three workshops dedicated to the practical problems of farmers wishing to engage in renewable energy (RE) projects: a presentation of the spectrum of renewable energies that they can produce, keys to the financing of a RE project and finally how to structure a project. The various renewable energies that are possible on a farm - wind power, bioenergy and solar power - will each time be addressed during each of these workshops which aim to give farmers all the information they need for the implementation of a project.
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: All the renewable energy solutions on our farms. This workshop will be an opportunity to examine the wide range of energies that farmers can produce today on their farms. In a context of dwindling fossil fuel resources and increasing energy prices, developing RE is a challenge which the French farming sector is rising to: agricultural biomass (biogas from anaerobic digestion, biofuels), solar power, wind power. These projects also fall within a more concerted drive to enhance farm competitivity. You will be able to meet several farmers and project developers who contribute to the 20% of renewable energy produced in France by farmers!
2:45 pm – 3:30 pm: Keys to the funding of a RE project in farming. Nowadays it appears an increasingly tricky challenge for a farmer to get funding for their renewable energy project. The cost of an anaerobic digestion plant can reach 5 to €10 million, electricity feed-in tariffs for solar power are dropping lower and lower, and new solutions exist. This workshop will look at the different means of funding available to a farmer or a group of farmers wishing to invest in the production of green energy (crowdfunding, subsidies, loans, investment funds, etc.). A farmer with an energy project will also offer a personal account of his experience.
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Worry-free project structuring. Deploying a renewable energy project on a farm may today seem like an assault course for a farmer. Farmers with energy projects, professional energy developers and an adviser from a chamber of agriculture will be on hand to offer you the keys to the successful structuring of a renewable energy project to get a clearer view through the administrative jungle that these projects might resemble.
