Demand for agricultural products, in particular cereals, is constantly increasing. Sustained food demand and new market opportunities are leading to strong support for the agricultural sector, in Europe and on other continents. There is clearly no shortage of opportunities, but not at any price! Remaining economically viable while respecting the environment, European agriculture must continuously maintain its efforts.
The industry is mobilizing across all its specialist areas to create more effective and sustainable agriculture. This is the recurrent theme of SIMA 2009. The exhibition will present a wide range of solutions, demonstrating the vitality of the entire industry, with a particular emphasis on farming equipment.

The farming equipment market in France and Europe is gearing up for a record year!
Boosted by a favourable period, sales of farming equipment are recording double-figure growth in France and Europe. Manufacturers have had to manage growing order books and deal with supply difficulties. The new economic situation calls for a level of caution, expected to be reflected by stability in the French market in 2009.
We can also observe a significant increase in the mean power of tractors and other self-propelled machinery. For example, the market for tractors of over 15 HP is booming.

The agricultural equipment sector is recruiting!
The agricultural equipment sector is bigger than you may think. In total, the sector accounts for more than 35,000 companies, employing some 120,000 people throughout France.
In general, it is in robust health and reaping the benefits of a booming market, with demand increasing rapidly throughout 2008 thanks a positive agricultural economy. The French market is growing and needs labour! Retirements and new specialities are opening up a whole range of vacancies in production, with distributors and in rural companies. These needs are real and in some cases immediate.
